Had this passed down from my grandfather a while back and frankly I have very little knowledge on it, but it fascinates me nonetheless. Apparently it was a $1 trade token redeemable at Matanuska Valley businesses for only two years (1963-65). With it's expiration over 50 years ago, it technically has no legal tender value anymore, but I'd still like to know more about it as I own very few tokens and souvenir pieces.

Perhaps emailing the gentleman who runs Alaska Rare Coins can give you more info such as mintage number, etc. Here is the website, email is at the bottom http://www.alaskararecoins.com/

I've never done so, but it's worth a try.
