I recently acquired some proof coins and noticed the reverse of the 1963 LMC looks Ultra cameo. Is this normal for a proof coin? I always thought that this type of thing was reserved for a special issue set. The obverse appears to have an extra Frosty bust of Lincoln as well.

I don't think it would make Ultra cameo, but a nice Cameo. Not typical for the year.

I guess it is normal in the error and variety scence, but here I'm speaking more to the Frosted Lincoln bust and Memorial Building contrasting the mirrored fields. I have a 1980 first strike special edition LMC that feature is this very thing. I'm just not aware of any special edition 1963 proofs that were put out. To my knowledge none of the other coins in the set exhibited Cameo or even near cameo appearance.

Not all proofs are Cameo, but yours is! I put together a little 1963 NGC Proof Cameo Birthyear set.

That's a pretty sweet set! What did you pay for the individual coins if you don't mind me asking?

Prior to 1978,most proofs were brilliant proof...no cameo of any level. 1978 and newer proofs are expected to be cameo.
