What's with the mouth? Looks almost lewd. Just when I think that the RCM has lost all it's marbles, I see another one rolling across the computer screen.

I had forgotten about this one.
I wonder if there will be a coloured version.

This loonie is pushing a lot of things. Obviously the homosexuality, but , way more....and I say that meaning no offense, so please don't take it that way. (oh I'm going to get in trouble anyways) I see this as a slip down that "slippery" slope. Loons have always celebrated National events, War, sports, Confederation, etc......But with the recent "Women's Right To Vote" and now this one, which I'm going to label "The Pride" loonie (no offense again),.........where is the line going to be drawn for the next group who wants their anniversary celebrated with a coin? The Red Cross needs a coin, so does the Legion, so does CF,MD,PTSD.........see what I mean? To top it off......year 2068.........50th anniversary of pot loon...yea, right.......it could really get silly. People will be mad, lawsuits maybe? "You did for them" scenario. Guess time will tell. Lets have them all celebrated, I need to build my loons some more.
I think this coin is headed for some ramifications. It reminds me of Native Indian artwork. I'm sure I'm not the only one to see it. That security seal is to much in that location with all the rays coming out in the back. Looks like a head dress. This will upset some people in my opinion. Better clam up now.

That's a garbled mess, I say this as a person with no artistic ability, but that's my opinion

@loonielewy
I hear what you are saying and I don't take offense but the loon has been used for "non-national" focus in the past. Don't forget the Toronto Maple Leaf Loon from 2017, the Saskatoon Roughrider Loon from 2010 or the Montreal Canadians loon from 2009. I would also contend without making a political statement that the decriminalization of homosexuality has national scope albeit impacting a specific group of folks vs. sports teams which are much more location based vs. national in scope.
I don't have a problem with the subject matter; it is a legitimate event to commemorate. The selected design on the other hand... Hmmm.

I have to admit the design is not particularly appealing to me either. I'm disappointed, but I still want one. Just a question of "when" now.
Edit to add: I showed it to my husband. He likes it. "It has a 20s feel, in a way." So maybe I'll pick one up sooner rather than later.

Yes, because this forum is about coins, not politics. The posts in question were about political reactions to the coins, not the coins themselves. The political positions discussed in the linked articles existed before the coins and will continue to exist long afterwards.

Correct. It was because a link was posted (twice) that moves the conversation beyond what is numismatically relevant.
We are not saying the conversation should not happen, we are just saying it should not happen here.
