I don't have any white notes from 1932 to 1938, but attached is an image of a white fiver from 1955. The design will be almost the same, but signatures of the chief cashier will differ, as will serial number format. This one is L K O'Brien ( Jan 1955 to 1962 ), replaced by the short-lived B series 1957. Size 212mm x 135mm. White pre-WW2 banknotes are extremely expensive so I don't have any. But I have provided images of £1 notes from your date range as samples for the signatures. B G Catterns - March 1929 onwards K O Peppiatt - May 1934 onwards The hawk-eyed among you will spot the security thread in this last note, showing it dates from the period after WW2, but the design was otherwise the same.

I have a genuine white 5 Pound-note from 1937. I also have an Operation Bernhard 10 pound-note (I also find these OB notes interesting as I a couple of years ago visited the Sachsenhausen camp where these were made and I will visit the camp again next year).

Hahag:
Can you post a close up of the entire Britannia medallion from your 1937 note? It may be an Operation Andrew counterfeit.

Operation Andrew was a precursor to Operation Bernhard

Operation Andrew was the first attempt by the Germans to counterfeit paper money. The watermark N is correct on Andrew counterfeits. The diagnostic on Andrew notes is in the medallion. I will post pictures later tonight of the Andrew diagnostic.

Here is the diagnostic. It is the small button on the bottom. On the counterfeit the outside line does not cross into the design. On the genuine note it does.
