had this put away ,only one I have . was looking in the mega Red Book , and see this year had some errors . so never really looking at it under the micro , take a look . is this a 8 over 7 ? the book has a pic in it, but pic look like a misprint . I ask if you can look at it , on the last 8 top right side looks like a point coming out ?160 year's old and used hard to tell .

I used to have one.
I think there may be several varieties.
I ID'ed mine using the Cherrypicker's Guide.
They are NOT easy to identify.
Mine was MS so there was a lot of details.

Sorry but I can't see any of the markers for a 8 over 7,
especially the broken wing tip.

In State A, the small tip of the 7 (where the two strokes meet) should be visible out the field to the NE of the last 8. I don't see that here. Also, a stray tip of a mis-punched digit (or possibly a die chip) should be visible to to the NE and well above the first 8, even higher than the area shown in the OP's first pic. In later states these markers are smaller and less easily seen. This coin is well worn and the denticles in the date area are too far gone to help in identification.
