Our State Mint has released a new Serie called " Animals Of Anatolia"

The coins are just added to the web site so I have learned them too.
I didn't get any yet but wanted to share the images with you coinlovers:)

They look nice but I think there's sth missing, can't name it though.

RenaL, Are these coins silver and what prices do you have to pay for such items straight from the Mint? Also I believe in 2001 the Turkey State Mint released a series of coins that were oblong in silver? Are they readily available as I have a fascination with coins that are NOT round! And, do they have coin shops in Turkey and if they do are you near one?

When it comes to prices you may want to try and give an example with U.S. dollars or perhaps with the Euro as I am sure we would be lost if you use Turkish (Lira?) figures for us.

Sorry that I forgot to mention specifications

This serie was released on 27 Dec.2005 (will remain on the mint shop 'till 27 Dec. 2007)

925 Silver-Proof
Diam. : 38,61 mm
Weight: 23,33 gr.
Issued 5.000 pcs (each)

For some time (I don't know how long, 4-5 months perhaps) their value at the mint shop is 20 YTL/each (also on the face, but in Turkish) which is ~14,85 USD

We have coin shops (very few are conducting the business proffecionally), we have a site very e-bay-like, and the state mint shop is 20 mins away from my office.

Unfortunately:| The mint keeps the coins only for 2 years at its shop. Then they're available only at collectors' shops.

But the mint releases silver coins every year. For the last 15-20 years the mint released very few comm. coins that are Bronze, Nickel etc. The general is Silver or Gold. The oldest serie on the mint shop is the Turks of the Millenium serie

Also a hint about currency:

Today I realised that YTL (New Turkish Lira) is almost equal to an AUD, both app. 75 US cents.

So if anyone familiar with AUS exchange rates, can easily "translate" TR coins' value (unless any economical fluctuation occurs-god forbid:)
