found this nickel in a roll. My hunch is the colors are coming from some weird artificial source, but would like a second opinion...

Looks like Ty D Bol toilet cleaner spilled on it. I got that junk on my hands once, it was there for like a week no matter how much I tried to scrub it off!

It's definitely a mild acid/corrosive. I use it to remove gray metal rub stains from my white countertop.

Don't ask why a white countertop...... Yeah.... bad decision.

The different areas of "toning" look like its from different concentrations of some substance. Real ugly!
