Misprinted New Five Dollar Bills? - Coin Community Forum

delfam New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 08/24/2008 11:44 am I was at work the other day and some lady said the new five dollar bills say serial dated 2006, when they were printed in 2007 or 2008. I've looked through all my new fives and they all say 2006 so this can't be a misprint can it, is it worth anything. Report this Post to the Staff

Notes can have the same date on them for many years, the only time it changes is if there is some change in signatures or a design change Report this Post to the Staff

The only thing I would add is the question by some as to whether changing the colour of the ink and adding a few more elements to the bill constitutes a "design change". A cashier at Target would not let me friend spend the only five she had when she was trying to pay. The cashier claimed you could take it to the bank and get a $10 bill for it.
