You had a very successful time metal detecting - some very good stuff in there. Could we get pictures of that big Celtiberian fish coin and the republican stuff?

Impressive finds. It seems that the laws in Spain for metal detecting are sketchy at best and by law illegal unless you have a permit. It would appear that their laws are the most lacks when it come to treasure finds in all of Europe.

I will get some close ups in a little bit. It has been almost 30 years since I found these and many more. I was there for 5 years and dug up a bunch. Have a few good stories from them times metal detecting. Some of the items I found or my friend found were pretty crazy best ones were a Roman Gold signet ring with a red carnelian stone with a rabbit fish and fox in the stone. Also a Gold aureus of Nero a super nice as of Caligula and tribute penny ( Denarius) of Tiberius and lots of other stuff.

Excellent finds, you should make up a separate thread for one or two coins at at time and provide information about them if you can.

Wow.
Your Constantine II VOT X is pretty rare, especially in such beautiful condition. One of the best I've ever seen!

The VOT X ET XV F R['squiggle']CS is a very rare type - you might have the nicest example! The squiggle has been described as the letters 'REDCS' in old literature, but it is in fact the rare and enigmatic 'EROS' mintmark. The monogram is the greek for love (EROS, ερωσ) but in latin it would read 'AMOR', which is 'ROMA' backwards. A very curious mintmark that isn't well known and is very difficult to get an example of, let alone on such a rare type. As it is usually in the ex, it is usually difficult to read, so having it in the wreath is very desirable. Take a look at this sold example of the mark on VCoins - $175  |

Beautiful coins bcuda  I assume you were detecting in the Southern provinces ..Andalusia/Murcia ? A real mix of rulers there!... Edited by Palouche

Wow I sold and got rid of a lot of my coins over the years but always had a special spot in my heart for the Constantine II just cause it was so clean of a coin and has such great detail for a lower empire coin so I kept it.
Now it turns out to be a better coin than I ever imagined.
Yes I traveled all over the southern part of Spain (Andalucia) metal detecting and I really liked the Iberian coinage from the area the most. The one that I like the most and think is the rarest of all my coins is the semis from Asido ( present day Medina Sidonia) it has the head of Hercules facing forward and two tuna fish on the reverse. Also the As from Gades (present day Cadiz) With the head of Hercules with lion skin facing to the left and two tuna fish on the reverse is very hard to find in good condition.
Thank you all for the kind replies tell me more about the Constantine II so I can write it down for my Grandson when I give Him my coins.
