"Verein Deutscher Krieger Cleveland" translates Association of German War Veterans of Cleveland. The earliest mention of this group that I could find was in the 1871-72 Cleveland city directory which lists their address at 2077 West 25th street which is in the South Western section of that city. The reverse is blank with a fineness mark of 950 which is commonly found on German medals of that era indicating that this cross was probably made in Germany. The cross is about 38 mm across.
