Here's one for all those of you who love polished coins. Must be a bunch of such folks out there given how many polished coins I see. Anyway, here is a polished doubled die I found two days ago.

Awesome find tropicalbats! Although, that's too bad about the polishing though.

I mean good in the sense that you can see it easily. Not all mucked up.

Nice to own. Not very nice that someone polished it. Maybe it was someone new who thought it would look better shiny.

Novicecoins, look at the areas in between the letters and spaces of IN GOD WE TRUST. See how it is discolored and a little muddy looking? Now look at the fields and how much more shiny and newer looking those areas are, that is from polishing. BTW, still a really sweet find tropicalbats!

Jim0815 thank you. Weird question. I've seen where others have said something like washing the coin. Is that like a polish job? because I thought it hurts value if cleaned.

Polishing or cleaning in any way that affects the surface of the coin = bad. Some detail work with the tip of a green rose thorn or similar is quite acceptable if it doesn't mar the coin. This one was polished and is overly smooth and shows surface scratches. It is worth so much I already gave it away, if that helps you understand how little a coin like this is worth.
