Fake.

Aside from the likelihood that the serial number prolly shows up on a list of known fakes*, here's the clues:

It's on that stiff fake parchment paper. They rarely used anything like that for real paper money, because it would fall apart after being folded a couple times. Currency is generally printed on high rag content paper, which will stand repeated folding.

Everything is the same intensity black. Early notes were hand signed and either hand numbered or stamped. Printer ink will maintain its color, but stamp pad ink or fountain pen ink tends to fade out to reds, tans, and blues, sometimes almost completely.

The above information will detect 99% of fakes, when you don't have a list handy.

Yeah, but this way you know what to look for so that next time you don't make a mistake if there's money involved.

Never bought anything that was fake but did have a few LMC's that had been tampered with that were handed down.
