I didn't see it, but there's a silver one for D-Day ... only more than $60 per oz.

The Toonie was officially announced today! According to the RCM press release 3 million have been minted of which 2 million are in colour. 20,000 rolls will be available (15k in colour and 5k, non coloured. The wrappings are different as well. So no mixed rolls. Having compared the two, I must say I am disappointed with the colour version as the green helmet seems to be floating and not attached to the soldier in the forefront. Might have been more interesting if all three helmets were green. Much more detailed on the plain coin.

They could have done a better job with the coloring, but I really like the outer ring design

Quote: They could have done a better job with the coloring, but I really like the outer ring design Same here, the outer ring is quite detailed and unfortunately for reasons beyond our understanding the centre is almost too dissimilar from the plain version making for a very unattractive colourized coin. Looking back at last year's Armistice Toonie there are some noticeable differences between the two but at least the background was the same. Perhaps someone can post a few comparison photos but as it seems the mint has taken a step backwards or tried to do too much with too little.

I just ordered a roll of each - coloured and non-colour. Surprised they are charging me 13% tax on circulating coins.
I much prefer to find these coins in circulation, but have little luck finding low mintage/coloured coins.
I've still only found one of the coloured 150th toonies myself, and my brother found me a couple more. I haven't seen any coloured Armistice toonies in circulation, so glad I picked up a roll back then.
I may have to change my collecting criteria - seems odd that circulating coins have to be ordered from the mint at a premium plus taxes.

I really don't understand why they made the change for the coloring. Simply making the Helmet or helmets green on the plain version would have looked better in my opinion.

Quote: Surprised they are charging me 13% tax on circulating coins. Only pure silver and pure gold are tax exempt. Also, because they come in special wrap, they are considered a collectible and subject to tax. If you manage to get a roll without special wrap at the bank, you will not be taxed.
