I picked up a coin of one of the last Pagan Emperors (he spilled enough Christian blood to prove so). It's fully silvered and not bad at all for the price I paid. Maximinus II. AE Follis. 310-313 AD. IMP MAXIMINVS PF AVG, laureate, draped bust right, seen from the back / GENIO-POP ROM, Genius standing left, tower on head, naked except for chlamys over left shoulder, holding patera and cornucopiae. T-F across fields. Mintmark PTR. RIC VI Trier 844a, rated scarce.

Accurately centered, fully struck up fully silvered, and almost no sign of wear. An excellent example.

Nice pick up! I didn't know that Western mints minted for Maximinus II so late. Certainly not a portrait type normally seen for this emperor!

I must have never saw this because I never updated the attribution. Victor thank you for the correction, it's much appreciated.

Is the silvering original or is it a modern re-plating?

Not sure how modern re-plating works, but there are deposits sitting on the coin that are not silvered. I would guess that if the coin is artificially plated it would coat the deposits?

Here is an example of a coin of Constantine the Great from my collection that appears to have undergone some form of resilvering in the recent past (in the 1800s?). It was this coin that triggered the thought and thus the question. The silvering has had time to age and tone.

maridvnvm, it's a possibility, the fabric/tone looks similar to your coin and it doesn't resemble any silvered coins I have. I thought it may have been a one off with a little more silver content than usual. I read a few threads about re-silvered coins and it seems they were coated/sprayed over any imperfections and encrustations/deposits. So I am optimistic that mine might be ok, but to be honest not 100%
