Occasionally I'll cruise through an ebay category such as Gold Eagles, window shopping for exceptional values. This visit was a real letdown. Everyone seems to think that their common grade melters are valuable right now. Here are a couple examples....

I already own many fully functional pins....

Here's one with plenty of great detail remaining.

WHAT are they thinking?

Agree. It seems common as of late. It amazes me that details graded coins are bringing mint state prices. Maybe it's time to contact Gold Line and buy them at just over melt. Then I could buy mint state Eagles with the profit from fools.

Maybe that's what's going on. At least one of these sellers is a liquidator. Crossing their fingers that the coin wil flip, and if it doesn't they melt it.

The odd thing is that there's a more intense competition, and better quality coins, as the listing price gets closer to melt. Pricing a common cull at $900-1000 is unrealistic when MS slabs are selling at $800.
