Called a coin shop, mainly to have 1888 8/7 appraised, and as reputable as the "renowned" shop is, he was clueless to what it was. He was sure that it didnt exist, did not refer to Wexler, Cherry, Mary, or Perry to see what it was. In addition did not have not ONE 1888 penny amongst his inventory! I will upload when I figure out how to rotate my pics!

For your reference, first carefully compare the position of your date in relation to the bust tip, and then in relation to the denticles beneath. On worn specimens the leftover bits of the 7 can be difficult to see (pic courtesy of Rick Snow).

Moreover on an 1888 8/7 the one is as prominent as the eight in reference to the actual error, the seven just underlies the eight...noone mentions the one

Just one more of those coins that are really difficult to see. If you look in the Red Book, it shows exactly the same thing as already noted here. It is sort of the tail of the 7 that is visible. Your photos are not clear enough to see that. If it is, then you have a coin worth in the thousands.

Well not in the thousands, certainly in this worn state. But a much larger pic of the obverse would help confirm.
