I received my first mail order request today from the US Mint for the BF Commemorative Coins & the Founding Father Commens coins. Pre-Issue is $35 for proof & $33 for the unc for the "scientist commens". Same prices for the FF commens, anybody else get there mail-order forms today? I do like the BF coins, very elaborate, the FF coins do not attract me that much tho---Anybody else going to go for these puppies?

I ordered a couple just because I hope they don't sell to well and I might make a couple of bucks on them. I think more than 1 commem out of the mint in any given year is too much for the market.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I prefer the Founding Father over the Scientist. Much more detail and the Fugio Cent on the reverse just seals the deal with me. I really liked what the Austrian Mint done with the 2003 Niobium Euro with the image of an old die on the reverse. I missed out on that one, I guess this one kinda fills that void. I bought a Proof and Unc. of the Founding Father, but will probably end up getting the Scientist as well. (If they don't sell out too quickly)

This what the Numismatic eNewsletter says about the commemorative,
"Over half of the Franklin commemoratives were sold as of Jan. 25, after six days of sales. Sales figures from the U.S. Mint for the uncirculated and proof versions of both the "Scientist" and "Founding Father" examples showed that a total of 260,000 were sold by that date. So altogether, the total of Franklin commemoratives sold was 290,000 out of a maximum of 500,000."
