Picked this up for $43. Thoughts on grade or problems? Thanks!

I was able to attribute this coin as Browning-2 (B-2) which was easily identifiable because it is the only variety out of 5 known that has stars 7 and 13 close to the bust of liberty, separated by about 1mm. The coin variety is rated Rarity-2 (R-2).

Split grade VF-20 obverse, VF 30 reverse, but that old obverse cut is a bit worrisome.

CBQ's get the benefit of the doubt sometimes but I would still say that if graded it would come back as a VF-Details coin. You didn't do bad for $43 even with the issues at hand.

VF20 details / light obverse scratch & hairlines, but at the price you paid, it's a solid buy and a good pickup.
