Hi all,

I am a freshly-minted Member, hailing from the Mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia.

I've been into coin collecting for probably three years now. Like many Members, I'm sure, I came to coin collecting as a worker in Retail, after having noticed some beautiful coins flow through my tills. So I started collecting. Then noticed coins I'd never seen before (as I'd soon find out, Non-Circulating Legal Tender, in Australian parlance). These coins I would snap up as soon as I spotted them.

Then I fell down the rabbit-hole of pre-decimal Commonwealth coins. One of my colleagues drew my attention to a badly battered 1917 Florin - but I took it anyway as I'd never seen anything like it. I was further drawn in by a fellow Collector, looking to get rid of his spare Australian, New Zealand and British Half-pennies and Pennies, the his small collection of pre-decimal coins from Fiji.

Which leads me to where I am now. Admiring the beauty of the beginnings of my NZ collection, I decided this was where I would start getting serious. I have recently added to this collection, acquiring all 3d and 6d coins (barring the rare 1935 3d coin).

What's next? Learn to grade my coins, then collect the handful of NZ Halfpence I still need, then who knows what? I also love Euro Commemoratives and the US State Quarters, but... NZ first.

So there you go. A bit long-winded, but I do get carried away with coins.

I am very much looking forward to my time here.

Welcome to CCF!

It's great to have someone knowledgeable about a variety of non-U.S. coins, as y'all help broaden my horizons beyond the 'ol U.S. of A.

Hah! Thanks for your estimation of my knowledge, dd27, but while I'm perhaps a little more knowledgeable than the average Aussie when it comes to our currency, I still have much to learn.

Also, with the rate at which the RAM cranks out new coins, it can be quite difficult to stay on top of it. Last year, my collection of $2 coins was complete. Within a couple of months, I had a few new issues to try to collect.

Thanks again.
