OP - Are those reverse spots actual pitting or just toning flecks?

It's not pitting. You can barely see it with the naked eye. It's like very very slight black, I guess "flecks." The pictures really make it a lot more pronounced than it is. It's weird, because the pictures make that head line look less pronounced. IDK what I can do to get better pictures.

the photos are pretty high resolution so they can be enlarged. Coin looks pitted or gouged. the areas around the stars look corroded. the reverse looks cleaned too.

I think it has something to do with the lighting. It doesn't look like this in person.

My pictures enhance the dark spots while also reducing the detail. Oh well. Is it acceptable to revive this thread if I ever get it graded? I'm wondering the same thing for my thread about my 55 double die. That thread ended years ago with me talking about getting it graded. So if I get that one graded, do I just revive that thread, or should I start a new one?

Just find this thread and add new information - the earlier posts will be useful.

Cool thanks. I've just heard that it is sometimes frowned upon to post on old threads.
