Hello all!
This 1818 Large Cent appears to have some doubling on Liberty and possibly on the profile. Haven't dealt with these before so figured I'd ask. Anything special here?
Reverse is slightly rotated, which I understand is common.

Thanks!

The lighting in these pics makes evaluation very difficult.

I darkened the photos some. Can't see the forest for the trees sometimes. I remember what I saw and not what I see in the pictures. The LED ring on the scope can be challenging to work with.

1818 N-1 R-2+ not a DDO, the repunching of BER is normal for this variety. In general a doubled die before 1836 is not really possible as all the devices and lettering was hand punched into the dies. Repunching and recutting is possible but hot a doubled die. There are a few cases where the mint did experiment with completely hubbing dies but as far as I know there are no known doubled dies from these experiments.

In front of the face could be Machine Doubling (MD).

Great information. Thanks for sharing
Would explain why I couldn't find any DDO listings for these.

To delve deeper into this series you will need to get away from error attribution guides/websites and look into series specific literature/websites.

Most "errors" are known as "varieties".

WARNING: This road can lead to an unhealthy obsession.
