We know it's from Europe and has a monarch on the coin, it might be best to wait until we know the country for date questions.

Is the monarch depicted crowned?

Indeed the monarch depicted wears some pretty fancy head gear that could probably fund a few of our retirements.

Does the issuing country come from the current list of European countries that have German among their official languages? (The six countries that have German as their official language, in alphabetical order, are: Austria, Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Switzerland.)

Nein.

Recap:
- Coins was not minted before 1500, but not after 1699
- Coin is from Europe, but not from a country which currently has German as an official language (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland
- Coin depicts a monarch wearing a crown

Currently 10/20.

This is smelling like a Duchy of some sort.

Indeed, and a rather grand one. But this monarch's title also includes something even grander.

Does the issuing country come from the current list of European countries that have polish-speaking majorities or large minorities (Nearly 97% of Poland's citizens declare Polish as their first language? Elsewhere, Poles constitute large minorities in Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine.)

Could be a Holy Roman Emperor, a Russian Czar (Tsar) or Napoleon Bonaparte.

That reminds me. What do you get when you throw a hand grenade into a French kitchen?

Tak. Which means it could also have been a coin of Chicagoland if we hadn't already ruled out North America.

Gosh, that doesn't sound like a yes/no question, but I'm just dyin' to have the gamemaster win one, so maybe I'll count it. James probably would

Ziggy the 1st seems to have the more impressive crown, especially on the Szóstak.
