He's ready to go for the young ones, and that's as far as he wants to go. I totally understand. Tomorrow is a different story. The "new" Ref has been with us for a dozen years or so. He's at the stage of the firefighter and ready to step up so he can do the high school games in the fall. He's rammy and has a strong opinion. Wants to do it all himself. Ref is a boring position to tell the truth. Umpire is the best. Some would argue, with great reasoning, but I love being on the inside of the D. Yes, I have been bowled over a few times.  All the Ref does is start the clock when needed, watch the line for stuff, give penalty info....take all the flack.....but his main responsibility is to cover the QB. Everywhere the QB goes, so does the Ref. He follows the QB until the pass is thrown, then keeps watching the QB. The rest of us got the rest under control. He'll do fine. Don't expect any problems, but I'll be there to set it straight if any happen.  "We are poor little lambs...who have lost our way...Baa...Baa...Baa"
