Guessers too. I know way more about French coins than I did the other day. Too bad it's not French. Oh well, still learned a lot.

What countries are still in play after that longitude question paired with the Med. question. France was there but gone now. Gotta be Spain.

Was the issuing country of this coin Spain?

6 more Q's. Should be more than enough. I've been looking at Spain in Numista, for the date range there is quite a few varieties. So I will cut the date in half.

Was this coin around for the Battle at Monte Carlo where the English and Portuguese armies beat Spain?

I'm thinking our resident Canuk means The Battle of Montes Claros.

What's a loon to do when the internet gives you sketchy info. I just ran with this page. I thought it was cool to include Spain in the question. Still got an answer we needed. .

I have a couple of ideas for my question. I'm torn between asking if the coin has a precious metal content or asking if it is a commonly collected coin. Which do you think will get us any closer?

Yeah. I could see that being the case. Ok. Does the coin have any precious metal content?
