Is the human figure on this coin a religious figure (i.e. a saint or a member of the Holy Family)?

OK. There are coins of Magdeburg going way back that show a "maid" atop a building that is either a city gate or a castle. http://www.saurma.info/g/s270.htmAnd coins of Ostfriesland bearing a harpy obverse and also span undated and dated examples. http://www.saurma.info/g/s220.htmThere are types of Julich-Berg which have a bust above a coat of arms, but it is not clear to me that the same denomination showing a human figure was made without date, and later with date http://www.saurma.info/g/s194.htmThere are the Lithuanian half groats which are dateless before 1509, and dated thereafter, but Lithuania is not normally thought of as a city-state (never a fiefdom of the Holy Roman Empire), and I don't think this image of a knight is potentially ambiguous with respect to religious symbolism (at least without a serpent or dragon under its feet). The maid or the harpy might be. Lastly, I also wondered if it could be an early wildman coin of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, but I could not find any examples before the mid-1500s. So, now that I've blathered on about my thought process, andsince it's gotten kinda quiet, I will ask: Is this a coin of either Magdeburg or Ostfriesland? Edited by tdziemia

Trying to pick up where TDZ left off. Its kind of confusing, because the OJ coins may appear "after coins from the 1500's" based on the category you view. Regardless, I looked through the "Human Figure" categories, excluding Saints and Named Individuals. I see possibilities in the following categories: Hand Crowned Facing Head Head Left Mitered Facing Head There were a number of other possibilities, but they all featured religious figures or themes. Then it occurred to me that Spence would likely view his coin in the catalog by denomination or location. At this point, I am leaning towards it being a handheller. Edit: It looks like Keith has similar thoughts. Edit 2. My next hunch would be a pfennig. Edited by Jadey

but helpful. That rules out some coins listed as OJ followed by dated ones in the early 1500s (mariengroschen, mathiasgroschen of Goslar). Also rules out the many types with bishops, etc.
