Yes, Africa.
Since 1950-1990 on this continent gives so many possibilities, a clue:
This coin was issued by a nation which no longer exists with either the name or boundaries it had when the coin was issued.

To expand on the clue, and I hope this will not sow more confusion than it helps ...
Though not on the right continent or hemisphere ...
- Belgium would be an example of a nation that has not changed its name, or its borders since 1950-1990
- Germany would be an example of a country that has changed its borders, but not its name because of the reunification in late 1990
- The USSR would be an example of a country that has changed both its name (it is now Russia) and its borders.

Rhodesia is a super guess and EXTREMELY close, but no cigar. The place called Rhodesia on coins was previously referred to as Southern Rhodesia, and later became Zimbabwe, so it is a place that changed names, but not borders. You need to dial your time machine back to just a bit earlier in the same part of Africa, but still in that 1950-1990 range to find a place that issued coins and subsequently changed both names and borders.

1. Not from Europe
2. Minted after 1700
3. Minted after 1900
4. Minted after 1950
5. Not minted after 1990
6. Not minted in North America
7. Not from South America
8. Not minted in Australia
9. From Africa
10. Not made of silver
11. Not from Rhodesia, but extremely close

Yes! Nyasaland is now Malawi. Rhodesia became Zambia and Zimbabwe.
A very American scene will lead you to the denomination.
