So I figured it out, it has to be Japanese occupation money, it's a no brainer. Except there were no coins issued by the Japanese, only scrip. (Except for some rare patterns. Hmmm.)
Then it hit me, it has to be British East India Company coins. (Except I can't find any that were issued in the Straits Settlements.)
Waiting for my next epiphany...
