You betcha. We're pretty sure it is 20 francs, we know the mint is BB(Strasbourg) and we just need to determine which date out of the 5 possibilities, even with some questions left!

I have an early start at work tomorrow, so I'll look forward to playing in the next round when I get home.

OK, I shouldn't be telling you this, but you are missing a mint: https://www.silverdollarco.net/page...ch-mintmarks
Read it carefully for the remaining years!
Also, BB is Strasbourg, but not for the remaining years. Strasbourg is doubled B in these remaining years!

Me too, after reading the posts from late last night.
According to Numista (which occasionally has a mistake), the 20, 50 and 100 franc gold coins were only minted at Paris (A) and Strasbourg (doubled B) between 1861-1865 which is the date range remaining. Probably I contributed to the confusion by calling the Strasbourg mark BB instead of "doubled B." My bad.

Other mints that were operating in 1861-1865 arent possibilities because we know it is a large denomination gold coin.

James has provided us with an enigma, wrapped in a quandary infused with intrigue.

It was very thoughtful of tdziema to relinquish his turn as gamemaster.
