Hello All,

I'm thinking about making this purchase on ebay.

Any opinions regarding coins condition, price, etc., would be helpful in my decision since I'm no expert.

In addition, also thinking about this nice 1934-D. Any comments on this coin, welcome as well.

Thanks for you help!

I think the '34D is a little overpriced at $99.
The reverse on the '34S is interesting....at first glance it looks to be heavily worn but it might be a weak strike in the upper left section.

The 34-S is below Greysheet Ask. Not a bad deal IMO.
As for the 34-D, there is a huge leap between AU and MS. You're kinda in the middle with a choice AU. It's an OK deal but better if you can find MS for that price or AU50 for about $40.

I spend a lot of time watching Peace dollars on ebay, and I'm not impressed with the 34-S. It may have the slab and a bit of luster, but the reverse looks weak even for the year/mint. For the money, I think you can do better. If it were me, and I had to pull a '34-S off ebay today, it would probably be this one:

I think I just realized what happened with that coin.

I am serious about this.

What I think happened is that someone doing the computer entry printing out the tag switched the numbers. That is a VF-35 coin, but someone entered "53" for the grade and that label was printed out and no one noticed the mistake.

Or else the pictures are really (really!) bad.

Everyone, thanks for you reponses. I didn't feel real good about the coin becuase of the way it looked, but I thought it may be a good price for the grade as 1sikevo seemed to point out. But based on the comments about the looks I probably will pass.

PennehChaos, the coin you pointed out looks great to me. I just get nervous buying anything off ebay thats not certified, because of my low level of experience. I'm always afraid I'll get ripped off by buying a coin that was altered or cleaned. Do you think the coin you pointed out has been cleaned or tampered with? Of course, I'm not asking you for a guarantee or anything. I just appreceiate the fact I can ask someone more experienced than myself for some help. I'm sure that you wouldn't have pointed that coin out to me if you didn't think it was a decent coin. I guess I'm just asking what you like about it?

Thanks for your help!

I think you're making a smart choice on passing on that 34S. Something's just not right about it despite the slab that it's in. I went nearly 10 years waiting for the right 34S to pop up to finish my collection. The 28 might be more expensive but it's much easier to find IMO.

I found my 34S about 4 months ago. It was a nicely toned XF coin that I was able to pick up for $135.
