Good afternoon everybody,

My other half recently rediscovered this Scottish £5 note, which originally belonged to her grandfather. Does anyone have any historic knowledge of this? Also, how much would this be worth? We would be looking to sell it.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the speedy replies. What do the D/HN markings mean? Yes the note isn't quite pristine condition.

Nice find. I'm a bit surprised it didn't get pulled from circulation before so much wear, but maybe in Scotland these are not as collected.

The 'D/HN' is part of the overall serial number.

This note should still carry some sort of significant notaphilic (coin equivalent = 'numismatic') value premium, especially amongst Scottish note collectors, who are mostly based in the U.K.
