Yeah! I finally got a detector again. My wife made me sell mine a handful of years ago and I have been trying to get one in the past week since I will be going to the North Carolina coast for a few days for work.
I picked up a Garrett GTA 350 for $120 and I am so excited to get out on the beach and find a whole lotta nothing!
I'm sure I might pick up a few coins here and there, but I am hoping with Hanna going through a few days ago I might have a little better luck than other times.
Well good luck. I hope you find something. When the storm was coming through I was watching the news being broadcast from the beach and in the background you could see a couple of people out metal detecting. Looked like they were working the areas where the beach was already eroding.
I actually thought about going over there to the coast to check it out but that thought only lasted a few seconds. 2 hour drive not worth it. And then again you never know. Well anyways enjoy the beach.
<sigh> you have good days and bad. Atleast I didn't come back empty handed, but I got 17 cents (a dime a nickel and 2 pennies) and a bunch of steel and copper shrapnel. Apparently the beaches south of Carolina Beach were used for target practice and I got a bunch of that crap.
Better than my average beach hunt. There are just too may detectors in my area to find good stuff at the beach.. Every time I go I see others there or signs that they have been.
NC/SC beaches have allot of elderly people living around here with detectors so its pretty hard to find much around here also because that's about all they do all day
