Hi sorry for all the question marks in the title but the pictures will explain. There are missing pieces and texture on the penny that I am unable to explain. Sorry for the sideways pictures I am trying to show the pattern so you understand what I mean.
Any idea what happened to cause this?

Heated with a torch is most likely. Probably fire damage. PSD.
