Hey guys new to the forums but long time reader, so hello to everyone!
So wanted to get an expert opinion of this 1968 S, seems to have strong doubling on almost all the devices in the obverse. Here are some photos I can take more if you need.
P.S. also the last photo shows the rim is doubled on the northeast side
to community. what you have is called MD , Machine Doubling. There are numerous interesting topics regarding this doubling on this site , just use the top left search box and do a little research.Keep on searching!
to CCF. The rim is most likely a minor MAD. The doubling looks like Machine Doubling. Use the search box, upper left of page for more info. It might also be a master die doubling. No added value,IMHO. John1
Thanks guys I have read about MD but what threw me off was I could see doubling of the serif and it didn't seem to detract from the thickness of the devices seems to add to the thickness. Guess I'll have to read some more thanks though
