I'm going to be gone for roughly a week in Canada, and I was wondering what coins I should be on the lookout for. Any links to websites would be helpful as well

purelywasted - I am just looking for anything that is particularly rare or collectible. Varieties, silver, and valuable coins would all be included.

edit: since I will be there for just a week and be looking through pocket change, I'm more trying to find modern varieties/low mintages to be on the look out for

With the alloy recovery program in full effect, you will be lucky to find anything made of nickel or copper, let alone silver. Very few modern coins are valuable or rare but I still check my coins. Bank roll hunting would likely yeild better results but I assume you have other business to tend to in Canada other than spending all day going through rolls.

Redzapsid - what dates for coins would fall under the alloy recovery program?

It's become rare to find anything pre-2000 for 5, 10 or 25 cents in change now due to the recovery program. That being said, if you do come across something older, it is most likely not going to be worth more than face value. The odds of you finding something of value in your pocket change is very low. Even if you were to CRH while in Canada, it's hard to find much. Your best bet is to look for 2017, 2018 or 2019 coloured toonies. These are not easy to come by, but are circulating around and have relatively low mintages and good demand.

I would also look for 2018 Armistice and 2019 D-Day non-coloured toonies. They only made 1M of each and may actually be easier to find because fewer people hoard them.
