Although I have seen many permanently folded and a few melted of our plastic Canadian dollars, I never knew that the US had this "recovery" program. Does Canada have something similar?

Yup, used it a couple of years ago after I found 2/3's of a $20 bill.....took about 6 weeks, but they deposit directly into your account. Ka ching!
