I found this in a collection, among junk silver, large cents, Buffalo nickels, etc. On a whim, I purchased this for the gold content.

I have some vague guesses of what it is, but I'd love to hear what you all have to say!

It is a replica of a medieval gold florin.

Looks like there is a hallmark at the base of the fleur-de-lis, so there may at least be some gold content?

It says 750 or .750/750 fineness. Which is 18k gold.
Rest in Peace

Much too perfectly round to be a hammered renaissance coin.
My second thought is that it is a modern jeweler's die struck copy, made from 18ct gold, the marking at the base of the Fleur de Lis attests to this.

Some heat damage at the rim in four places, where this copy was hard soldered to the bezel.

Always intended to be a jewelry piece.
Has gold jewelry value, but no numismatic value.

An excellent 'steal' if you have bought it for the same sort of price as the other 'junk' items.

Y'all are 100% on this? I'd absolutely hate it if I sold it for melt then found out it's real...

Yep. Would that have not existed during that period?

Correct.

It is, however, a nicer looking replica than others we have seen here (just my opinion).
