These coins were recently given to me. They are all reddish in appearance and various colors can be seen. Can anyone suggest what happened ?
I suspect they my have been dipped in a chemical to clean in ignorance or maybe they were kept in a container which reacted chemically over a period of time hence causing this "Toning Effect".

What you have surmised and more could have caused the toning.
The only sure way to know would be if you had been the one that had put them through their ordeal

My guess is coins left in a cars cup holder. With maybe a spot of coffee or coke added. The reason I say that is the one cent coins have stain marks on them.

Those 3 coins in the first pictures are the only Environmentally Damaged coins out of all of them.

Found out what happened. Some "clown" washed them with "Bright Bowl" a toilet cleaning liquid made to remove stubborn stains.
