Everything should just have a large western numeral (for the denomination) on the obverse, an eagle on the reverse, and the other required legends in their usual places.

I like the numeral instead of Lady Liberty, because no matter what they did with her design most of us would complain about it. I am almost reluctant to ask for an eagle since that can be hit or miss, but I think it is worth the risk.

Most would complain about the numeral as well. Complaining is what collectors do best

True, but hopefully in this case it would be generally limited to "I do not like numerals."

With Lady Liberty three different people will complain about her hair and how it could be better a certain way only to have the other two say that would make it worse.

I am pretty sure that is what is going to happen regarding placement of the eagle's wings.

One country did them for a little bit. (plastic coins)

At least two countries have used plastic for circulation coins, and a third did for commemoratives. (and Missouri used it for their sales tax tokens which did circulate)

So, basically, something like the Shield nickel, except with an eagle instead of the shield?

EDIT:

Cocos-Keeling Islands and Transnistria, correct? Not sure who had the commemoratives, though.

What font? Serif or sans serif? What size? Italic? Connected numerals or separate?

Exactly what I was thinking, but with the number as the obverse. I assume we would still have FIVE CENTS, QUARTER DOLLAR, etc. on the reverse.

Well played, exactly my first thought.

I think we can all agree no matter what people will complain, so keeping that in mind lets go for something truly beautiful and artistic like many coins around the world have accomplished.

Yes, and the commemoratives were issued by Democratic Republic of Congo, 10 francs coins. They did them for several years.

I too think by then all money systems will be one via plastic cards. I suspect that each person will have to have a card with different Presidents on them sort of like with coins.
