Hello again all, wondering about the thoughts og getting coins graded and where to get them graded. I have the proof sets from 1965 to 2008 and was thinking about sending them all in to get graded. Thoughts?

That sounds extremely expensive. What do you hope to achieve by getting them graded? If it were me, I'd rather buy other coins with the money I would spend on getting them graded.

I do not think you would add much value to the proof sets by having them graded, at least not enough to cover the cost.

I think what sublime said is a great idea! Figure out how much money it would cost to get all those coins graded then spend that money on coins, rather than plastic. Sometimes you can find a graded coin that you want for alot less than it would cost to actually gade the coin if it were raw.

There were no proof sets from 1965 to 1967, they are known as Special Mint Sets and have a quality level in between the standard Mint Sets and Proof Sets. If any of those have a cameo effect similar to proof sets, then they can be worth quite a bit more than a regular SMS. As already stated, you grading fees for that many proof sets would run into the thousands of dollars, exceeding the actual value of the sets themselves by many times over. You might have a few high high grade coins there that would exceed the value of an average proof set grade, but bulk submissions like that never come out ahead because you will always have some lesser grade coins as well that are worth the same with or without a slab.

and WELCOME TO THE FORUM OF ANSWERS.
I would think by now you must have got the idea that sending in all those for grading would just not be worth the cost. Sounds like you have a really big pile of those so that would really be expensive. That is why there are more and more grading services poping up all the time. Way to many people are having just about anything graded.
If I were you I'd just be happy with what I've got.
You may want to look into some method of making a 3 ringed binder with plastic sheets for all those sets.
You didn't mention if you opened them all. Did you?

I also agree that you can probably buy a nice high graded coin for cheaper than sending them all in to be graded.
