The arrows you put on the VarietyVista image aren't pointing to the doubling. The doubling is that small line below the B. It's a very minor DDO that would be tough to spot.

Here's a stronger example of this type of doubling below LIBERTY (1946 DDO-001). This one should help you get a better understanding of this doubling. The 1957 is just a very minor version of this: http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20...6PDDO001.htm

Nope. Mechanical Doubling would not increase the size of the letters while, if that line of doubling is included with the rest of the B, the B has increased in size.

Also read the description of the doubling at the top of the page:
