I believe this is severe die damage doubling or a damaged doubled die. I would have normally written it off as the prior, but I see some significant notching in the some devices that makes me question that.

Interesting...I see some notching too. Perhaps there's some die degradation as well, because the doubling has a weird rough edge in places.

It's a doubled die:-)

I'll check with a few folks to see if it's a known one.

Ken Potter and Mike Diamond share the attributions of World Coin Errors for CONECA.

Ken Potter , as far as I am aware, specifically does the attributions of the Die Varieties on World Coins for CONECA. Ken does not have this listed so it is theoretically unknown and unlisted until now.

Of course that doesn't mean it has never been heard of before. Someone may have reported it at some point.

That being said, It would still be classified as a new discovery.

Seattle, email me and I'll put you in touch with Ken to see if he wants to get his own photos and formally list it.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
Here's another world coin doubled die--have you ever seen this one?

I found this coin a while back, but I like it so much it bears a repeat. Take a close look at distortion of the kangaroo and lettering.
This particular coin reminds me of the US 1890 Indian Head cent DDO, with similarly blocky serifs and overall inward displacement.
According to Chuck Daughtrey at coppercoins.com, this is a class VI distended double die--thanks for that attribution! As there must be other examples, has anyone found this coin?

Hi Kurt,

I'll check on that one tomorrow or Friday. I have a rehearsal tomorrow and I'm not sure how long it will last. I am singing at a friend of a friends funeral on Thursday (I was just asked) so my next few days are gonna be spent in a direction other than coins. I'll check as soon as I can.
