Hello there. So, I am completly new to, not only sharing and discussing my collection (with anyone other than my father, may he rest in peace) but to using a forum...PERIOD!
So, I have recently lost my father suddenly and I now have his coin/bill fold collection. Now this is SUPER exciting for me because I used to spend HOURS with my dad, when I was younger, going through his collection. He would teach me all about what to look for, jargon, grading, value, rarities, errors, etc. Since the loss of my dad is so recent and the grief, almost unbearable, I have immersed myself into his collection, for the past 2 weeks. I've been rather obsessive or hyper focused, to say the least. Goes along with my adult ADHD too! However, I find it has been my happy place, where I can connect with dad.
Now, with all that said, I have been a bit overwhelmed, knowing where to start, considering he has both Canadian and American coins and bill folds. So, I've just started working on the Canadian denomination, in attempts to stay focused. Again, my verbosity goes along with the ADHD. But hey, it's who I am!

Also, I will be going up to the topic of "If you have
inherited a coin collection", after I post this.
The struggle I am having is knowing where to start. I'm like a fart in a windstorm. So, I started with my Canadian dollar coins. Now I have a ton of them, however, there appears to be several different types/finishes and I am really struggling to recognize the Strike Types. Based on my limited knowledge, I do believe there are many PROOFS, IF those are in fact the ones that have the mirror like fields, with sharper frosted details. Anyways. I digress, as this was just supposed to be an introduction.
I will save that for the other topics. In the meantime, I am very happy to be here and I am amazed at the level of knowledge and experience that I have seen in here.
I wish you all a victorious day and many blessings! Shanks!
