Good morning from Missouri. I am new to coin collecting after inheriting my dad's collection. I am excited to expand it and pass it on to my sons. I look forward to learning from everyone.
I lived for a short while in Neosho. My father was in the Army and was stationed at Camp Crowder. Had to be about 1945. That was before it had been upgraded to Fort Crowder.
As I understand it the war in Europe was done or close to being over. The US military was preparing for the invasion of Japan. My father was helping in the formation of Army units for the invasion. Fortunately for the US military President Truman dropped the two A-Bombs on Japan and ended the war. The estimate of US casualties IF we had invaded was about one million.
Welcome aboard! I've driven through big MO, and spent some time in St Louis - which was cool! Met some really nice people. Enjoy the hobby. I started the same way.
