I was wondering if anyone has bought one of these? My wife wants one. She thinks they are neat. Was wondering if there has ever been any other coin certificates made. Unless I get some bad feed back I think I will get her one. Sorry I could not set this up as a link. https://www.911twenty.com/flare/nextSeeking:Feedback Rainman

There have been a couple of discussions on it- here's a recent one https://goccf.com/t/32737&SearchTerms=liberiaThe short version is that it's a reprehensible piece of marketing for an item with essentially zero collectible or intrinsic value, being sold by an organization of dubious integrity.

I began to type a more "colourful" comment, but I felt it was best to hold back this time.

I too was interested and never got around to getting one. I'm glad I didn't. I saw one first hand. My sister-in-law had purchased 2 of these. I was surprised of the cheap way it was made. It is a very thin sheet-front & back (like aluminum foil) sandwiched in a thin piece of - I guess white cardboard. Don't bother. It's not worth the money they are selling for. Personally, if they want everyone to "Never Forget" they should get it on with the memorial on Ground Zero. It is taking way too long to get it finished. mila_

There are better ways to show respect for that tragic day...not taking a piece of silver, striking it and selling it to the public as a patriotic buy. Just my opinion.

if this was something made by the US mint and all proceeds were going towards some sort of fund for families or something else in remembrance to that tragic day then I would say I would probably get one, but the company that is making these things are known to make such things just to make money from any type of historic moment no matter how tragic it may be. As far as the question about has there ever been a coin certificate made, I am not sure but this isn't made by the US mint so anyone can make one and market it. If I am not mistaken this is the same group that made the coin with the twin towers that raised up off the coin that had about 100 mil of silver over some base metal (this coin certificate is just silver foil over something just like has been said)

I would probably buy a US Mint coin, especially if it helped the families or went to fund the memorial. I am also happy to find that many fellow members share the sentiment that products like this are truly in bad taste.

As I have said in a different post on here. I am still in an ongoing battle with that company and my credit card company. I was charged for more than I ordered, never received anything at all and have so far been unable to reverse the charges. In that instance I was trying to buy the coin that has the twin towers that stand up. National Collectors mint will rip you off in one of 2 ways, never sending you what you've paid for OR sending you cheap, useless, completely worthless items. They are profiting from the interest and sadness invoked by the Trade center disaster as everyone feels that they somehow want something to remember it with and I find that totally reprehensible.
I'd definitely stay away!

Sounds like a boiler-room operation--with little sense other than making a quick buck off a tragedy. Might as well be Nigeria, but as they're based in NY, they deserve a fitting response.

I saw a commercial for these things on TV. I personally I would not get this item, I feel this item is definately being spun into something it isn't....
"Government Authorized Non-circulating Liberian legal tender." ... "Struck in .999 Pure Silver Leaf!"
Not quite Nigerian, haha... And what is silver leaf? Definately a novelty.

Quote: And what is silver leaf? Ever hear of gold leaf? You take some gold place it between layers of animal membrane called, believe it or not goldbeaters membrane)and pound it with sledge hammers so it flattens and spreads. You keep dividing it up and restacking it and beat it some more. Eventually you get a film of gold just microns thick. An ounce of gold can be effectively turned into a sheet of gold that would cover a football field. This is gold leaf. Silver leaf is the same thing but it can't be beaten out quite so much. The stuff is so thin it can't be directly handled. If you take a sheet of gold leaf in your hands and rub them together it vanishes breaking up an disappearing into the pores of your skin. To apply it you use a brush to pick up an edge of a sheet (Static electric charge causs it to stick to the brush) drape it over what ever you want to cover, blow on it gently to spead it out, and then run the bruch over it to stick it to the object. In most cases you don't need any glue because the atomic bonding energy of th atoms will case it to stick to whatever you put it on. If they do think the need a glue they will brush the surface with a diluted solution of water and egg whites and let it dry. I wouldn't be surprised if the weight of the silver on this thing would be measured in micrograms.

It saddens me that people are dupped into buying crap from these pimps. The tweaking of the American spirit for profit should be outlawed. I have always flown the colors high and proud, and I was blind with rage when I went to replace my flag with a new one, somewhere around October 2001, and found the price of the flag had quaddrupled. I tell all, everyone has to do something, but do not prosstitute the American blood that has been, and will be spilled in the name of your freedom. If you feel the need to buy something to "Remember September 11,2001" then buy a soldier a cigar, buy him/her a drink, or simply thank him/her. Do not forget, keep the rage you felt that day fresh in your mind, AND YOU WILL NEVER FORGET.
Respectfully Submitted, Jessop, Christopher P. SGT, MP

Sorry for the lousy picture. Guess you could call this a coin certificate. The text in the center reads: "The Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Australia PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ONE THOUSAND POUNDS IN GOLD COIN ON DEMAND at the Head Office of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia" Oh, and if you want to buy one of these, the estimate for the sale on 21st of this month was for $1,000,000.
