Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find out some info on some $3 obsolete banknotes.
Is there a recommended book? I'm looking for values.

Acutually I have 6 that are $3, 1 note that is $100, 1 note that is $15, and 1 note that is $1.

Not the best pics...I'm still working on that.

Any info on values or where to go to find info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tom

Very nice notes..I especially like the Warwick Bank note.

As far as books on obsolete paper money two comprehensive books I know of are:

Obsolete Paper Money, by Q. David Bowers (I have this book and it gives a good overview of the history of obsolete money as well as methods of printing the money)

The other reference is a four volume set called United States Obsolete Bank Notesby James Haxby. The set sells for upwards of $800 and is difficult to find. Fortunately, my dealer has a copy that I am able to reference.

There also exists several books written specifically for each state's banknotes.

As far as values, I have yet to find a definitive source that covers all banknotes. I usually research certain online dealer prices as well as auctions from Heritage, etc. to give myself a general idea of what. However, in the state specific books you may find prices but I am not sure how up-to-date they may be.

There are notes like yours on Heritage. I would create an account there (If you already do not have one) and check them out.

Hope this helps

If Priceing and info I use The Official Blackbook Price Guide to US Paper Money 2008 it has good info about pretty much everything I got it for 1.00 + shipping off Amazon but if I was you i'd go with the A Guide Book Of United States Paper Money: Complete Source for History, Grading, and Prices (Official Red Book)

Chistina,
Thanks for your input!
I'll have to keep an eye out for "Obsolete Paper Money" by Bowers.
The $800 4 volume set will just have to be a dream.

Haykalmdownfella,
I'll have to start a search for those books. Is there a reason the "rebook" is better than the Blackbook?

Thanks for the info and your time.
Tom
