Good day all......I'm not a real big collector of Jefferson nickels but I did find this 1939P while searching through a roll. I would like to get this one graded but I don't know how to id the 3 different reverse designs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cannot tell from the pics. The Type I reverse has wavy and ill-defined steps, the Type 2 has straight well defined steps...not sure what the other reverse is that you are referring to. Both types are common for the business strike coins of 39 from all three mints. The proof 39 with the Type II reverse is the rare one, and the 40 proof with Type I reverse is rare.
