Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 10/16/2019 3:43 pm Remember that the mint was still applying the mint marks to the dies by hand in 1971. The location, depth and alignment could vary by the obverse die used to strike the coins. Even die polishing would change the look of the mint mark and other features on the resulting coins. Abraham1 New Member United States 28 Posts	Posted 10/16/2019 4:52 pm I am looking at mint mark designs. The 2 marks looks to be different designs to me. Since they were hand punching mint marks, it was highly possible to use the wrong design. My thinking process. Report this Post to the Staff
