Picked up this 1839 N-9 Silly Head on a BIN for an absurdly low price. I'll post the seller's photos, and then my photos (after a long Verdi-Care soak), and please feel free to share your opinions on a grade. My personal grade at the moment is VG8; too low or too high? There is some roughness on the upper reverse, nothing terrible for the age and level of wear.

Thanks for looking & grading!

The 1839 N-9 Silly Head is easily identified by a diagnostic die crack running along the neck line and by a "hole" in the ear. As the die wear progresses, small die chips develop along the crack line on the neck. Turning the coin at an angle to the camera helps to capture the die markers a bit more clearly.

VG details, environmental damage. There are enough corrosion spots to tip it to details.

Your verdicare did a remarkable job.

VG8. I think the reverse is enough to receive the details designation
