Hi all,

I am starting to become very intrigued on how Morgans on graded; reading everything I can and still confused... would like some help / comments on the grade for this Morgan I just picked up. Other than a bag mark on the chin, there are sharp details all around. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Photos are not sharp enough for a numerical grade.

Unbroken luster indicates MS, but beyond that I'm unable to offer a specific grade.

larger pics and avoid overhead lighting so that the surfaces can be seen. grading any coin takes practice. learning about how each type of coin wears is imperative. there are a couple ways to go about this. review coins here and watch what others say about them. go to photograde and review the various grades for that series. I suggest starting with just one series, like morgans.

here is another site that looks closely at morgan grading that I find very useful

Bag marks aren't necessarily a bad thing, but where they show on the coin, along with how many make a big difference.

Looks 63-64. Some bagmarks seem to show in the cheek of liberty.

Larger photos really are needed to get a more accurate grade.
