I think this is a medieval coin from some place connected to France. Judging by the lettering, I suspect older than 1600; perhaps 15th century.

The blurry photos make it hard to read the legend. I think the second side says MONETA AN?EN (though I'm not confident in anything beyond MONETA A), but I can't make much sense of the first side - all my attempts just look like gibberish.

...Huh. That would explain why the first side looked like gibberish - I couldn't recognize the X for what it was, the G didn't look G-like enough, and it still was heavily abbreviated.

Strasbourg kreuzer, 1350-1550, MB#40.

Actual lettering:
Obverse: GLA IN EXCELS DO
Reverse: MONETA ARGEN
